Nutritional - Oaten Hay is a cereal hay with a reputation as a ‘sweet hay’. It consists of the stalks, leaves and immature seeds of the Oat plant. It is safe to use with small animals and birds as a balanced package of energy, protein (5- 14%), fibre and water soluble carbohydrates.

Lucern Hay

It is a readily biodegradable fibre which mulches down to add organic matter to the earth, improving soil structure and drainage and encouraging microbial and earthworm activity.  No waste – layer over your soil to restrict dehydration and keep the soil cool, or mulch into the earth for healthy soil and happy plants. Nutritional value: Lucern Hay. Rich in minerals, Lucern Hay has a higher nutritional value than cereal straws. An excellent source of food fibre, it consists of the entire Lucern plant, cut and baled. It is a good source of protein (13 - 20%), vitamins A, K and E, riboflavin, pantothenic and nicotinic acid, all of which are important for growth. Barley Straw

Baby Bales™  - Barley Straw.  Perfect for adding to garden beds, pot plants, the veggie patch – or small garden ponds. In the garden, Barley Straw will act to restrict evaporation, enhance soil quality, keep the soil cool and encourage moisture retention.

Barley Straw is especially useful to control algal growth in small garden ponds. Allow approximately two weeks for the straw to begin to break down. Barley straw releases natural organic compounds that discourage algal growth, but do not harm aquatic plants or animals (fish). The straw acts best when exposed to warm sunlight and oxygen. Replace if it begins to smell and recycle into your garden to improve soil quality and encourage earthworm and microbial activity for happy plants.

Nutritional Value: Barley Straw consists of the dried leaves and stalks of the barley plant.
